MEMORY KEEP(H)ER is a solo I made with my grandmother, Claudette Nickens Johnson to build an alternative archive for her stories since she was beginning to lose her ability to remember. Resourcing her shared memories, I made an evening-length performance of dance and embodied sound that is inspired by her time growing up in Texas.
This 30 minute solo inspired a series of short videos made in collaboration with Claudette Nickens Johnson and Paul Kruse.
